Benefits/Data Research Associate

Responsible for data research and-or administration of company or client employee benefit programs including but not limited to healthcare, flexible spending, & retirement (pension planning). This data research role will involve reviewing multiple systems to compile an accurate data account for a participant. The role will then update the primary system of record andreport findings or any items that are red flags to experience team members to help resolve.


Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience

Requires in-depth knowledge and experience

Decisions guided by policies, procedures and business plan

Generally domestic scope/accountability

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform individual and group data research using all available data sources including both electronic and imaged paper systems.

Review benefit plan documents to understand rules applicable in compiling an accurate data history for accounts.

Ability to think critically and make reasonable decisions in applicability of information found in research process.

Communicate to managers and stakeholders in a concise and meaningful way, both verbally and in writing.Manages and develops relationships with clients/prospects and insurers to ensure delivery of effective and efficient service

Reviews benefit calculations performed by others within the team (which may involve the more complex plans or the most important clients of the firm)

Keeps up-to-date with current legislative topics and its application to existing client benefits schemes

Provide drafts of basic explanatory literature for the schemes, ie, announcements and booklets, or commenting on drafts produced by others.

Deliver presentations, designed to simplify complex benefits issues, to employee groups.

Provides administration advice and guidance to clients, and may manage mid sized or more complex, strategic clients


3 to 5 years of Defined Benefits plan administration experience preferred

Data research, analysis and management experience and skills

Strong knowledge base in Excel and DB admin systems preferred

Ability to work with internal and external client contacts.

Project management experience preferred

Strong communication skills

Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
