Job Description: Data Conversion Programmer Analyst

Job Summary:

Conduent is seeking a Data Conversion Programmer/Analyst with experience in development of ETL and performing data migration activities on large and moderate to high complex projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with SSIS, T-SQL, PL/SQL or similar tools and technologies which are used to extract, transform, and load client legacy data into target application databases in accordance with contractual obligations. The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads while balancing multiple priorities. Incumbents are required to define high-level conversion scope, develop data conversion approaches, be adept at estimating work effort, in addition to the programming and documentation required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts on site analysis of Client legacy systems and databases with the goal of producing the initial Data Mapping for the Extract process.

  • Working closely with client end users to find where data is stored in a database if client does not have intimate knowledge of database.

  • Define data integrity, business rules and cleansing requirements for the Transform process.

  • Preparation of detailed specifications from which programs will be written.

  • Creates accurate code to Load the data into the target database.

  • Tests all conversion programs in succession in order to identify programmatic dependencies.

  • Executes onsite conversion and migration tests in order to obtain program run times, derive database sizing estimates, and uncover software / hardware / environment constraints.

  • Creates data verification plans to be used following trial runs at the client site.

  • Participation in the development and preparation of documentation for procedural, program and user documentation.

  • Conducts data conversion and migration training and works with users to ensure successful system implementation.

  • Work with Development and Technical teams to efficiently troubleshoot problems.

  • Assist, as needed, with company-wide initiatives and meeting demands on the services team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience with data manipulation using SSIS, T-SQL or similar ETL tools.

  • 5 years’ experience in Data migration and conversions on application implementation projects.

  • A thorough understanding and experience with the entire data migration process from analysis of legacy data, cleansing, validation, transformation business rules, conversions and subsequent load into target databases.

  • Strong understanding of database concepts and manipulations using SQL Server and Oracle databases.

  • Participated in at least 3 projects as a data conversion developer.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills in identifying and resolving data exchange issues.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of programming concepts.

  • Ability to develop in one or more programming languages.

  • Must be a strong team player and demonstrate an ability to work well with others.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites during data migration phases of a project.

  • Must be currently eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

  • Must consent to and successfully clear all required pre-employment screenings (background and substance abuse).

  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Prior consulting experienced gained with a reputable consulting agency is highly desirable.

  • Experience with other industry standard and open source ETL tools is a plus.
