Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new innovative technology solutions to research problems and demonstrate solutions and prototypes

  • Work in close collaboration with internal and external customers as well as partners to develop and deliver innovative technology solutions

  • Contribute to a team that will use state of the art open source tools as we as invent new methods.

  • Help design and prototype novel video analysis applications that intelligently extract relevant information and understanding from video data streams, and apply machine learning techniques and other novel approaches to use the information as part of real-world applications in areas such as transportation, public safety and retail.

  • Actively contribute to relevant scientific communities by publishing scholarly articles and invention disclosures, attending conferences and delivering presentations

  • Identify new research opportunities and formulate relevant technical problems

  • Develop strong collaborations with colleagues inConduent as well as partners from academic institutions in areas of mutual interest

  • Pursue breakthrough research in a challenging and stimulating environment and demonstrate thought leadership

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field by continuous learning and proactively champion promising new methods relevant to the problems at hand.

  • Proactively identify new areas of research and develop value-based proposals for investments in those areas

  • Senior Research Scientists are expected to lead technical initiatives and mentor colleagues

Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge and experience in one or more topics of Computer Vision, Image and Video Analysis, applied Machine Learning and Statistics. For example, multispectral sensing, video understanding and object tracking.

  • Excellent analytical skills as well as oral and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, to be able to thrive in a fast paced, research-focused, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work hands-on with minimal supervision or assistance in at least one programming language such as Java/C and scripting languages such as Perl/Python/Matlab

  • Experience with packages such as openCV, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. (Masters) in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, imaging science, or a related engineering or science discipline from top tier institutes for Senior/ Research Scientist. Proven track record of research excellence will be given preference.

  • Industrial experience is a definite plus.Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated research, engineering, or entrepreneurial experience related to developing video/image analytics technology.

  • Experience and knowledge in services domains such as business process outsourcing systems, transportation systems, healthcare systems and financial services is valued.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Desired interdisciplinary skills also include big data analytics, modeling and simulation, systems design and experience with real world examples.
